diet and age should determine the dose of Resveratrol that should be taken for optimal health.

,is needed.

Resveratrol is a naturally produced chemical found in red grapes and grape seeds, and also red wine, that has shown to have cholesterol lowering, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. It is also said to slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s and is becoming increasingly popular for those who wish to slow down the aging process.

Needless to say Resveratrol has caused quite a stir and there are many free trials of this supplement being offered on various websites. Many of these are pushing the longevity benefits of the substance.

As with all supplements and drugs there are going to be the inevitable side effects and Resveratrol is not without its side effects. It must too be remembered that there has been very little research of Resveratrol performed on humans. Research has been carried out mainly on monkeys, mice, flatworms and yeast.

Research using human cells has mainly been done in the laboratory in a test tube or in a petri dish. So probably the best that can be said about Resveratrol is that the research is highly theoretical and pretty controversial.

Whilst the benefits of Resveratrol do appear significant, Resveratrol side effects also need to be taken into consideration.

First and foremost it must be understood that Resveratrol can act as a blood thinner. A person that is taking medication for blood thinning should consult with their physician before embarking on any supplements that contain Resveratrol.

By the same token, Resveratrol also has some estrogen related properties. Any woman that has estrogen sensitive conditions also need to consult with a physician before adding Resveratrol to their wellness plan.

Other Resveratrol side effects can include:

  • Caffeine like highs such as feeling dizzy or jittery

  • Joint pain in the hips,Christian Louboutin Tall platform Boots, feet and hands

  • Diarrhea and stomach cramps

  • Insomnia that comes on quickly and can last indefinitely

  • Numbness in some parts of the body

  • Sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures

  • Increased Acne

  • Flu-like symptoms

  • Discoloration of urine

  • An increase in blood pressure

  • Increased anxiety

  • Achilles tendonitis

  • Anemia

  • Decreased appetite and here it has to be said some have found this a positive side effect whilst others have found it to be a negative side effect of Resveratrol

Caution should be taken when using Resveratrol, as it is known to interact with other medication.

According to the European Journal Nutrition 46:329-36 2007, there is some evidence that high doses of Resveratrol can inhibit the absorption of folic acid (an essential nutrient for DNA repair) and other vitamins and mineral absorption.

As with most medications and supplements, the severity of the side effects is dose related. Iron stores, gender, diet and age should determine the dose of Resveratrol that should be taken for optimal health.

Should you decide to go ahead and add Resveratrol to your wellness plan, then you can try to avoid Resveratrol side effects by controlling your dosage and checking with your physician to see if Resveratrol is right for you
